Steven had his first appointment with the pediatrician this morning. He is healthy and doing well...already putting back on the weight he lost in the hospital. He's back up to 9 pounds (He left the hospital weighing 8 lbs 11 oz....Momma's milk is good!). What little jaundice he had has cleared itself up. Mom and Dad asked LOTS of questions and got the reassurance that we weren't doing anything to royally screw the kid up...YET! All in all, this parenting stuff isn't rocket science, but I guess everything seems a little bit harder when you're running on little to no sleep. I haven't seen 4 a.m. this many nights in a row since college!
Andrew will never tell you this himself, but he's turning into a great daddy with more instinct than he probably realized he had. And now that things have settled down a bit with his dad, I think he is starting to be able to relax and let the wonder of new parenthood sink in. As for me, I really never knew that Super Bowl event that was my life a week ago could turn into but a distant memory so quickly. Steven is amazing and I'm so in love with him I can't stand it.
My mom is here this week helping with the cooking, well doing all the cooking, which is great because that means that we don't have to buy stock in Papa Johns and Hot Wok take out. What a help it is to have another set of hands in the house, especially hands that have already raised three relatively normal children! She's baking cookies now, so if anyone wants to stop by for some baby love, you'll get cookies too!
Steven is blissfully napping in his cradle in our bedroom and has been there since about 2 p.m. It has allowed Mom to have a much needed nap and catch up on some e-mails. It's been so great to hear from everyone through the site. I knew marrying a computer geek would pay off at times like this! :)
Hopefully we'll continue to have little blocks of time to keep the site updated. Just harass Andrew if it slows down a bit.
More news later...
